Through scholarship funding, the Foundation supports local high school seniors as they prepare to begin their college journeys and make a lasting impact in their communities.

2026 Scholarship Impact
In Spring 2026, the Foundation awarded $14,000 in scholarship and educational support to 10 local students, made possible through Foundation funding and generous donor support. These awards reflect our shared commitment to investing in local students, reducing financial barriers, and supporting the next generation of leaders.
Eligibility Requirements
Local High School Seniors
Academics
Required Documents
Applicants must attend an eligible high school* within the Foundation’s service area.
Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 and be accepted to an accredited four-year college or university.
Applicants must submit all required materials, including transcript, recommendation, acceptance letter, personal statement, and FAFSA/SAR.
*Eligible high schools include: Belleville, Bloomfield, Caldwell, Cedar Grove, Glen Ridge, Montclair, North Caldwell, West Caldwell, Nutley, Verona, West Essex, Essex County Vocational-Tech, Lacordaire Academy, Montclair Kimberley Academy, and Mount St. Dominic Academy.
Scholarship Opportunities
Eligible applicants may be considered for scholarship opportunities that align with their college plans, service, leadership, academic interests, and application materials.
HBCU Scholarship
For students accepted to and planning to attend a Historically Black College or University.
Applicants must submit one letter of recommendation from a teacher or guidance counselor.
For students who have demonstrated meaningful service, leadership, and community impact.
The letter of recommendation should specifically address the applicant’s role, impact, and dedication in community service activities.
For students planning to pursue Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, or Math.
The letter of recommendation must come from an Art, Math, Science, or Technology teacher.

STEAM Scholarship
Established by the family of the late Doris H. Coleman, this scholarship honors her love of butterflies, her commitment to scholarship and service, and her legacy as a charter member of the Omicron Xi Omega Chapter and Golden member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

Complete application including supporting documents.
Our scholarship committee reviews all submissions and invites finalists for a warm, conversational interview.
Recipients are announced in May, receiving direct funding and pairing with an alumna mentor for college.
